- Summary
- Boulder beaches appear to offer a rather inhospitable environment to inter-tidal animals, but nevertheless a considerable number of species has invaded this rather limiting habitat. Some of these species are rarely if ever found elsewhere, and can be considered as forming the boulder beach species assemblage proper , while others are either "interlopers " usually from open rock areas nearby, or "casuals " from the sub-littoral zone.
