Summary
The studyregion covers afarmingdistrict with coastal dunes, alluvium and peat, terraces of older sediments and low hills at the foot of the Tararua Range. Small communities of native plant speciesremain in adiversityof habitats.Four hundred and seventy-eight native and 503 alien taxa are recorded with information on their abundance, distribution and habitat, together with historical notes on the vegetation. It is considered that about 418 of the aliens are fully naturalised.
