- Environment Bay of Plenty commissioned Wildlands Consultants Ltd to undertake mapping of significant natural areas (SNA) in the Opotiki District in the Bay of Plenty Region. This project involved mapping the 2003 extent of significant natural areas based on hard copy maps presented in a 1999 report (Wildland Consultants Ltd 1999). Significant natural areas mapped in the 1999 report included legally protected and unprotected areas. In the current project site boundaries were digitised at a scale of 1:5,000 based on the extent of natural areas visible in 2003 digital aerial photographs.
