Develop key actions for the WCPA Mountain Specialist Group and the mountains community of interest generally, to assist protection and conservation of the highest-priority sites. The purpose of this paper is to: 1. Reinforce an understanding and appreciation of the critical natural and cultural values of mountains and the threats to their ecological functions; 2. Present the case for the importance of protecting and conserving representative mountain ecosystems; and 3. Present a decision-support tool to assist in determining priorities for heightened consideration, in order to inform where efforts can be focused, to protect and conserve mountain areas
