- The Mahinga Kai Exemplar is a joint project between Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, Ngāi Tūāhuriri Rūnanga, and the Avon Ōtākaro Network (AvON), with the assistance of many other organisations including CCC, ECan, DOC, and the Waterways Centre for Freshwater Management. The approach being taken is to develop an exemplar project at a peri-urban site that demonstrates how mahinga kai projects could be developed elsewhere.
