- Summary
- This report is one of the Protected Natural Areas Programme (PNAP) series. It describes natural values focussing on priorities for conservation which are identified as recommended areas for protection (RAPs) within ecological districts and regions. The Manawatu Plains Ecological District PNAP report has been prepared by Don Ravine of the Department of Conservation's Palmerston North Field Centre. The field work was done by Don Ravine and Andrew Townsend in 1993 and 1994. The Manawatu Plains Ecological District is dominated by terraces of marine and alluvial origin and a series of alluvial plains. It is part ofthe Manawatu Ecological Region, together with the coastal Foxton Ecological District. This ecological region extends in a crescent along the west coast of the North Island.
