- Prepared for Department of Conservation West Coast Tai Poutini Conservancy This report provides an initial description of a new restoration project that is being developed as a demonstration site within the wider SWWF project. Its objectives are to improve whitebait stocks and showcase ecological engineering and habitat enhancement approaches for lowland river floodplains that are well integrated with other conservation, recreation, landscape and flood management objectives. The demonstration site is located on the Punakaiki River floodplain upstream of the State Highway bridge
