- Since 2019, the Waikato Regional Council (the council) has been reviewing its Operative Regional Coastal Plan and has now developed a new draft Regional Coastal Plan (the coastal plan) ready for public notification in late 2023. The coastal plan review has involved a series of engagement processes with the regional community on a range of coastal resource management issues over the past four years. Feedback provided has been used to inform and refine the plan to provide an appropriate balance across the four well-beings (social, economic, environmental, and cultural) through the coastal plan provisions.
