- T H E subgenus Culiseta (Climacura) has included only three known species, Culiseta (Climacura) melanura (Coquillett) from Eastern United States, C. (C.) tonnoiri (Edwards) from New Zealand, and C. (C.) antipodea (Dobrotworsky) from Victoria, Australia. The discovery of a fourth species from the extreme south of the South Island of New Zealand is described here. A note on its ecology is included.
